In a pleasant surprise and show-of-support, Jay Leno and Demi Moore kick off their shoes for One Day Without Shoes on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno! Demi does a great job explaining the mission behind One Day Without Shoes and TOMS.

Wow, thanks Demi!  We didn’t have “Take your shoes off on a famous talk show” as part of our list of barefoot activities, but great thinking!

She tells Jay how earlier she showed her support for One Day Without Shoes with a barefoot tweet pic, and asked everyone “Are you in?” (Check the clip to see Demi’s barefoot pic).

Sounding a bit competitive, and not to be out done, Jay says he’s in and reveals his shoeless feet, boasting he’s been doing it all day. 

Well Jay, you’re both winners in our eyes—thanks for taking the time to spread awareness! Next year, we hope you’ll even ditch those dress socks.  But we’ll take what we can get… 

Jay jokes, “Well isn’t this attractive?!” Demi says, “It is—it’s excellent!” 

And we totally agree.

Later in the show, not shown in this clip, Congressman Barney Frank walks on stage without his shoes—another great surprise and show-of-support! 

Thanks, Congressman! It’s great to see politicians helping out with this critical cause, too.  We know you must have a lot on your plate, so we love that you kept One Day Without Shoes in mind.

While we didn’t plan any of this, it certainly came off very well and we couldn’t be more thrilled.  When people in the public eye speak up, we know more people will hear the message, and that only helps get more shoes to children in need around the world. So thanks everybody—we’re looking forward to next year!
